Make an easy Apple Crumble Recipe

An easy recipe that you can tweak the sweetness and taste to your personal liking! This can be adapted to a baking tin or casserole too.

Apple Filling
4 Granny Smith green apples
200g brown / castor sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon powder
2 cinnamon sticks (optional)
nutmeg powder (optional)

Crumble Topping
175g salted butter
50g brown / castor sugar
200g all-purpose flour

  1. Cut apples into slices. If you are using cupcake liners, cut them into cubes instead.
  2. In a pot, place apples inside. Add sugar and cinnamon while cooking. Add 100g of sugar and slowly add to your desired sweetness level. For a stronger cinnamon taste, add cinnamon sticks and nutmeg powder. Amount of cinnamon and nutmeg can be adjusted to your personal liking.
  3. Cook apples till soft.
  4. Make crumble topping. Make sure butter is thawed, but not too soft.
  5. Mix flour and sugar into a bowl. Cut butter into cubes and add into bowl. Use hands to incorporate them till crumble texture is formed. Add more flour, if needed.
  6. Preheat oven at 180°C
  7. You can fill your baking tin, casserole or cupcake liners with the apple filling. If you prefer to have a layer of crumble at the bottom, bake it at 180°C until golden brown before putting the filling in.
  8. Top it off with the crumble and finish baking it at 180°C until golden brown. Serve it with some vanilla ice-cream or eat it by its own!
